Dear Church Family
Pentecost Sunday will soon be here on 8 June - a time for celebrating the giving and receiving of the Holy Spirit. One of the benefits of receiving this gift is to have a personal guidance system for our journey with God. Many new vehicles now have a safety system called ‘lane assist,’ which prompts and guides drivers if they veer off the lane they are travelling in.
God’s version of this, the Holy Spirit, guides us on our journey with Him. If we start to drift away from God’s planned course, the Holy Spirit will nudge us and guide us back on track. We can, of course, choose to ignore these prompts, but that may take us away from God and His chosen path. Now may be a good time to listen afresh to those promptings and react as necessary!
‘Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground’ (Psalm 143:10 NIV)
Here are this week’s updates:
Our next monthly day of prayer and fasting will be this Tuesday, 3 June. As a church, we set this day aside to pray and fast for revival to come in Sittingbourne and beyond, and also for the future direction of Holy Trinity. Please join us! If you’re unable to fast from food, there are alternatives such as tea/coffee, sweet treats, TV or social media.
Love Laughter Lunch Café returns after the half term break at midday on Wednesday, 4 June. Come along for a warm welcome and delicious home-cooked lunch or snack!
Wigglers Stay and Play, our lovely group for pre-school children and their parents/carers will be back after their half term break at 10am this Thursday, 5 June.
There won’t be any Thursday prayers on 5 June, but they’ll be back at 2pm on 12 June.
Sittingbourne Street Pastors are holding a Praise and Worship evening at Sittingbourne Baptist Church from 6-8pm on Sunday, 15 June. Join them for an evening of fellowship and opportunity to find out more about their work. There will be tea, coffee and sweet treats, with all proceeds going to the training of new Street Pastors.
Don’t forget that Swale Foodbank is always in great need of donations! You can bring donations of food and toiletries to Holy Trinity as we have a collection box in the corner by the pulpit, or you can donate at most supermarkets in town. The Foodbank team are always very grateful for all your donations.
With love and prayers,
Terry and the Staff Team
