Weekly Newsletter

Dear Church Family

Over the last few weeks, God has been drawing my attention once again to the importance of worship – whether it’s on my own, with others in small groups or when we are together as a church.  It’s such a joy to be in the presence of God and to worship, as I’m sure you’ll agree!  However, I believe it is essential for all of us to think about who, what and how we worship; for, as human beings, we will always worship something or someone - if it’s not the God of the Bible, we are heading down a somewhat dangerous path!  Only the God who is known to us as Father, Son and Holy Spirit is truly worthy of our worship, only this God has the power to save, heal, forgive and set us free.  Only this God can direct our paths into righteousness and peace.  If you truly want the best life you can have, then this God needs to be in the centre of your worship. Now, worship is singing and speaking out our praise, learning from The Bible and sharing in Communion but, that’s only a small part, it’s so much more. Someone once said ‘As much as you worship God in your daily life is as much as you worship God’.  Our whole lives are opportunities for worship, because our whole lives are meant to be lived to the praise and honour of God.  So, whether you are at home on your own, at work or out and about, everything you do can be an act of worship.  How you tackle the day’s jobs, how you relate to your boss, care for your family or greet those who serve you in shops and cafés, and what you do in private – everything is an opportunity to worship and serve God.

St Paul writing to the church in Rome encourages his fellow believers to develop a lifestyle of worship:

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God – this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God`s will is – His good pleasing and perfect will.  Romans 12:1-2 NIV

This serves as a foundational call for all believers to live a life fully devoted to God, marked by moral integrity, spiritual transformation, and discernment of His will.  This is our true and proper act of worship!

At the end of the 9am service we usually say these words:

Go in peace to love, worship and serve the Lord

In the name of Christ Amen!

May that be true for all of us this week whichever service you’re at!!
